The easiest way to explain the word Binaural is having or relating to two ears. Along with frequency cues, combined with Binaural hearing, lets humans determine the origin of sounds direction. It is a stereo effect, especially when applied to Binaural Beats, that gives us our orientation.
Adapting through evolution has given us the ability to hear binaural beats. Binaural beats can be detected by many evolved species through their brain structure.
Depending upon the size of the species’ head, the frequencies at which binaural beats can be detected change. In the human, carrier waves below 1000 Hz is when binaural beats can be detected. This is easily explained since below 1000 Hz the wave length of the signal is in fact longer than the diameter of the human skull. In this case these signals that are below 1000 Hz will curve around the skull.

When you have shorter wave lengths, or higher-frequency such as microwaves, they travel in a straight line and do not curve around the earth. And so high-frequency signals are always blocked by mountains and structures.
So what is this all about? Well, logically because frequencies below 1000 Hz curve around the skull, incoming signals below 1000 Hz are heard by both ears. Because of the distance between the ears, to our brain it appears the frequency to be out of phase with each other.
Being out of phase is the secret to Binaural beats. Perceiving binaural beats is possible because of the brains ability to detect a waveform phase difference.
