So what is a reiki attunement exactly? You will become connected with the source energy of creation through an attunement.

Although it is probably as old as civilization itself, the concept Reiki (spoken: Ree-Kii) comes from Japanese. It expresses the universal life energy.

In reality Reiki, being very old cure, was known way back, and was actually written in the old Sanskrit Sutras more than 2500 years ago. The story goes that it was rediscovered in the 19th century by Mikao Usui. Thus, since those days now we speak of the Usui System of reiki. You can give Reiki to yourself, or to others, by gently laying ones hand on, or slightly above, the body. The channel for the energy, is the giver, and through the hand this energy is given to the one who is the receiver.

Reiki, relaxing and pleasant, works nicely on a physical level. In terms of the emotional level it creates confidence in oneself, and in others. It helps to strengthen

the zest for life. And it also works on the mental level too. It helps you to deal with everyday stress better.

There are many reiki forms. There is: Usui-Reiki, Karuna Reiki or Shamballa Reiki, and WhiteLight Self-Empowerment. I can’t imagine one system being better than another. You will normally have to learn anywhere between one to four degrees of reiki. To initiate you into the energy each degree probably comes with an attunement.

This is what you would get in the first degree:

First Degree

•Basic knowledge about reiki, and basic hands-on healing method.
•Aura and Chakra instruction.
•Initiation into reiki by means of “attunements” you will become a reiki channel.
•From this time on, reiki energy will flow through your hands. YOU are now a reiki practitioner (healer).
